Petition against Jiji Thomson rejected

KOCHI: The Public Interest Litigation filed by Kannur native A K Shaji against the appointment of former chief secretary Jiji Thomson as the chief minister’s advisor was rejected today. The division bench comprising Chief Justice Ashok Bhushan and Justice A M Shefeeq pointed out that there was nothing of public interest in the case.

The petitioner’s argument was that it was not legal to appoint Jiji Thomson, who had retired as chief secretary, as the chief minister’s advisor. The petitioner alleged that no disciplinary action was taken against him for making controversial statement during his religious talks and instead, he was given top posts post retirement.
