DCC chief denies allegation
KANNUR: District Congress Committee (DCC) president K Surendran denied the allegation that Congress workers were behind the defacing of the tomb of the father of Congress rebel P K Ragesh at Payyambalam here. Ragesh alleged that a section of the Congress workers were behind the defacing of the tomb in memory of his father and late Congress leader Puthiyarambath Govindan. The memorial structure was found defaced in the morning. Surendran said that no Congress worker could ever do such a thing as defacing the tomb of an inspiring Congress leader. He alleged that the defacing was planned by some vested interests for exploiting sentiments of Congress workers. CPI (M) district secretary P Jayarajan alleged that the tomb was defaced by a gang close to Congress leader K Sudhakaran in retaliation for Ragesh’s support for the Left Democratic Front candidate in the Kannur Corporation Mayor election.
