THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister Abdu Rab has taken exception to boys and girls sitting together on benches inside college classrooms. “The minister said, personally he didn’t feel good about boys and girls sitting close in class rooms. But if the students and college managements have no issues about it, let them sit close in classes,” Rabb was responding to a recent controversy in Kozhikode Farooq college where a student was suspended for sitting next to girls in the classroom.
“I don’t agree to boys and girls jostling while sitting in class rooms. Nowhere In Kerala do boys and girls sit together like this inside classrooms. I have also not received complaints on Farooq college controversy,” Rabb said.
Meanwhile, KSU and SFI have demanded that the Minister withdraw his opinion. KSU State president V S Joy said the government would not be allowed to convert colleges into temples or any other worship centres. SFI said the minister’s statement was an irresponsible one.
The high court had the other day ordered the college management to revoke the suspension of Dhinu, the student who was suspended from Kozhikode Farooq college.
