PATHANAMTHITTA: Senior CPI leader and party State council member M Sukumara Pillai (79) passed away on Thursday. He died at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram due to age-related diseases.
He had been Kerafed chairman for two times and had become AITUC Union General Secretary of Electricity Board. He had also worked as All India Electricity Employees’ Federation Vice-president, PT Punnose Memorial Trust Chairman and R Raveendran Memorial Trust Chairman.
In 1990, he retired from his service and devoted full time for political activities. He became Kerafed chairman in 2006 and since then, the institution had been flourishing.
The body will be kept at R Raveendran Memorial centre for the public to pay homage to the deceased leader in the evening. The cremation will be held on Friday at his residence Lakshmi at Putthanpeetika.
