THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Governor has been legally advised that there are no hurdles for expelling Dr A V George, vice chancellor of the M G University, facing probe after his bio data was found tampered with. A senior advocate of the Kerala High Court advised the Governor legally after considering similar cases of 1968 and 1999.
The stand taken by the Supreme Court in connection with a case of the vice chancellor of the Kurushetra University in 1968 and that of the VC of Karnataka University in 1999 has been pointed in the advice given.
The governor who has the power to appoint the vice chancellor has the right to remove him also and the court need not interfere in it. In the wake of the advice obtained, the governor may soon take a decision. The report of additional chief secretary and higher education department against George is in the consideration of the governor.
