I went to Perunna not for political parleys: Sudheeran

KOTTAYAM: KPCC president V M Sudheeran has said that he didn’t go to the Perunna NSS head office for any political parleys. He is hurt by the fact that certain things, about which he didn’t have the slightest inkling, turned into a controversy.

He was making his speech at the function organised by the Kottayam DCC to felicitate him. “At least for now, leave me alone,” he said.

“I have always had respect for society leaders, which will continue to be so. It was not the right time for talks with NSS General Secretary Sukumaran Nair. I din’t want to pollute the pious atmosphere in the morning with politics. The Congress stand is to let the politicians and community leaders function in their respective domain,” said Sudheeran.

On the other hand, KPCC vice-president V D Satheeshan was harsh in his response to the incident. “Congress leaders should not be the ones who should lie down, when the community leaders ask them to sit. The Congress party will have voters from all communities in society. Community organisations are not the ones who should select the Congress candidates. If such a situation arises, it would be better to dissolve the Congress party,” he said.
