KOCHI: LPG gas cylinder distributors on Monday called off their nation-wide indefinite strike which was supposed to begin from Tuesday.
The decision follows talks between Central petroleum secretary, representatives of oil companies and leaders of the distributors’ organisations, in Mumbai. At the meeting, the distributors were given the assurance that their demands would be looked into.
The distributors’ main demand was to withdraw the guidelines for the distribution of cylinders, issued on February 21
According to the assurance given, a special committee will be appointed to solve the problems faced by the distributors. The committee will comprise representatives of oil companies and leaders of the distributors’ organisations. A report will be submitted within 60 days and till then the status quo will continue.
