KASARGODE: During the inaugural function of Vellarikkundu Taluk, when the helicopter hovered to sprinkle flowers, the canopy above the dais collapsed, injuring several people in the mayhem thereafter. The incident happened at 4:45 pm on Friday.
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and Revenue Minister Adoor Prakash were there at the venue. The reason for the incident has been attributed to the strong wind caused by the low-flying helicopter. The canopy was made using tin sheets propped up on iron pipes.
Soon the policemen rushed in with help; the function began half hour late. There were no casualties.
