Bar scam: VS challenges govt to appeal against order

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan Sunday challenged the government to appeal against the court order in connection with the further probe in the bar scam case. In a statement issued here, he said Mani will neither tender his resignation nor the government will appeal.

VS said Oommen Chandy would be the first chief minister of the country to continue in power bearing so much insult.  The government is trying to create a smoke screen after interpreting the court verdict incorrectly. The chief minister along with Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala and K M Mani are competing for a false propaganda on it. VS also criticised vigilance director Winson M Paul. He acted as per the instructions of the chief minister and K M Mani. The vigilance should function according to CRPC and vigilance manual. The court criticised Paul after he acted against it.

Mani’s argument that there is no proof for asking bribe is totally baseless. All circumstantial evidences for accepting bribe and the Supreme Court verdicts on it have been pointed in the judgement. KPCC chief V M Sudheeran had stated let the people’s court decide on Mani.
