THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM councillor advocate P K Prashanth from Kazhakoottam has been elected mayor of Thiruvananthapuram Corporation. He reached the post after attaining 42 votes.
The vote of Sathyan, who won from Poongulam ward, and a LDF candidate was found invalid.
The UDF kept aloof in second polling.
BJP’s mayor candidate V Giri got 35 votes.
Advocate Rakhi Ravikumar of the CPI is the deputy mayor. Though the CPI demanded the mayor’s post in turns, the CPM rejected it.
