THIRUVANANTHAPURM: Though the Left has confirmed its right to rule the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, there has been a heated debate between the CPM and CPI over Mayor’s post. The arguments have given room for speculations on whether the CPM and CPI would part ways or not.
The argument for Mayor’s seat when the election is supposed to take place tomorrow has given head-aches to the CPM. CPI has suggested sharing of the Mayor’s tenure between it and the CPM.
CPI’s stand is that it should get Mayor’s post for at least two years. The CPI leaders insist on the post even when they have only six councillors in the council. The CPI is already angry over the CPM not giving it proper representation. They are also of the opinion that let the CPM take Deputy Mayor’ post while they hold Mayor’s chair and the vice-versa.
The CPI leaders are also unhappy over the CPM not coming forward to share posts in similar manner in Panchayats and Block Panchayats.
