KOCHI: Though the Central government has for the time being relaxed the mandatory condition of possessing Aadhaar for availing of LPG subsidy, the consumers with bank account will have to pay the full amount for getting a cylinder. Oil companies have provided instructions regarding this to gas agencies.
For those consumers who have linked their Aadhaar to bank account will have to pay Rs 1184. The subsidy will be subsequently credited to the bank account. On the other hand those who do not have Aadhaar, need to pay amount excess of the subsidy. Meanwhile, the oil companies have said that they had no information about govt’s freezing of Aadhhar-LPG project
The Finance ministry had last month decided to delink the Aadhar from LPG subsidy.
The government had also formed a committee to study complaints cropping against Aadhaar project. Along with that it was also decided to raise the LPG cap from nine to 12.
