Both UDF, LDF share seven seats each in district panchayats

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In the voting held for electing district panchayat presidents, both fronts equally shared seven each. The LDF obtained Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kozhikode and Kannur districts. Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Pathanamthitta, Kasargod, Wayanad and Malappuram are with the UDF.

V K Madhu has been elected district president in Thiruvananthapuram. In Alappuzha, G Venugopal is the district president and got 15 votes. Jagadhamma Teacher of CPI is the president in Kollam. Joshy Philip and Anupama Ravi are the presidents in Kottayam and Pathanamthitta. The presidents in Ernakulam and Idukki are Asha Sanal and Kochuthresiya Paulose.

Babu Parasseri of CPM and Sheela Vijayakumar of CPI were elected presidents in Kozhikode and Thrissur. In Wayanad, T Ushakumari of Congress is the president. Karayi Rajan, accused in the Fazal murder case, is Kannur district panchayat president. Karayi Rajan defeated Thomas Varghese of the congress. Karayi got 15 votes and Varghese 9.
