Govt to arrange facilities for Sabarimala devotees

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: More facilities will be arranged for devotees at the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple and Attukal Devi Temple during mandala-makaravilakku in Sabarimala, said Devaswom Minister V S Sivakumar.

Briefing reporters after convening a meet on it, he said arrangements have been taken to park vehicles at Attukal and surrounding places.

There will be KSRTC bus services from Attukal to Padmanabhaswamy Templeand vice versa. The police have taken necessary measures for curbing transportation and for the security of employees. The service of special police officers will be utilized, the minister said.


Temporary water tanks will be set up by the water authority so that there will be no disruption in water supply. The government has entrusted KSEB and corporation to set up necessary lights. Police and the revenue department will open control rooms in Attukal. The health department will set up mobile clinics.

The corporation will lead in cleaning activities. The meet also decided to install sign boards in various languages at the main junctions.  Cooking food and bathing have been strictly banned at the parking ground in Attukal. Special squads would be formed by the food and safety department and civil supplies outlet to assure the quality of food in hotels and to curb the price of essential commodities.
