ALAPPUZHA: Playback singer Daleema has been elected Alappuzha panchayat vice president. Daleema, who contested from the LDF panel won from Aroor division. She said she contested the polls following her interest to progressive stance and to protect secular values.
Many from the film and serial field had contested in the polls. Veena S Nair stood as a UDF candidate in Sasthamangalam, actress Sonia Jose as Sivasena candidate in Ernakulam North division, director Ali Akbar at Areekode ward in Kozhikode Corporation, producer Mummy Century as NCP candidate in Ernakulam Keezhmadu division, model Henna Maria Kenney as a BJP candidate- all were defeated.
