KOLLAM: In a gruesome incident, a mike operator was hacked in front of the sreekovil' (sanctum sanctorum). The crime was committed by a three-member team with a sword. The dead has been identified as Sumesh alias Kuttan (34), son of Babu of Thirumullavaram. The local residents and police jointly nabbed Chemban alias Sreekuttan (30) in connection with the incident.
The incident happened Wednesday morning on the premises of Thirumullavaram Edakattukkavu Dharma Shastha Temple. The three-member-team reached his house in search of Sumesh, who is running Aarsha Sounds. Not seeing him there, the team reached the temple with the sword. When Sumesh tried to escape from them and ran towards the sreekovil, they went behind him and hacked him twice. The devotees standing there ran helter- skelter after seeing the incident. The local residents ran after the gang and caught hold of Sreekuttan and handed him over to the police. Sumesh died on way to the hospital.
