KANNUR: CPM leaders on Friday visited the Kannur Central jail to meet T P murder case accused and CPM Kunnumkara local committee member K C Ramachandran.
The CPM had expelled Ramachandran from the party on Thursday, citing the reason that he was convicted by the court in the murder case.
Kannur District Secretary P Jayarajan and State Committee member M V Jayarajan visited the jail in the morning and met Ramachandran. James Mathews MLA was also with them. The three reportedly spoke to Ramachandran for about forty-five minutes.
The three leaders later told the media that the intention of their visit was to inform Ramachandran about the action taken by the party against him. There was nothing unusual about the visit, they said. Meanwhile, there are hints that it was part of the party’s move to mollify Ramachandran.
