Kasturirangan report: Hartal in Idukki, Wayanad total

IDUKKI: The dawn-to-dusk hartal observed by the LDF on Saturday over Kasturirangan report passed off peacefully. The hartal was complete and peaceful in Idukki, Wayanad, Kottayam and eight panchayats in Kannur . In Todupuzha and other areas shops remained shut and most vehicles kept off the roads.

The LDF’s protest was in the wake of Centre not withdrawing the November 13 notification over Kasturirangan report and not re-demarcating Ecologically Sensitive Areas. The hartal had also got the support of SNDP and the residents of high range areas.
