THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opening a new chapter on internal trouble in the history of Kerala Congress, Finance Minister K M Mani and Government Chief Whip P C George are set to part their ways. Blame it on Kasturirangan report; P C George’s tough stand on the report is said to have piqued Mani.
The situation became complicated only a few days ago when George who took part in TV channel discussions, asserted that MLAs including Mani would quit the government, if the Centre was not ready to issue correction notification on Kasturrangan report.
Irked by George’s public statement, Mani questioned the authority of George to speak about his resignation. Mani also called up Geroge to express his disappointment
Party General Secretary Joy Abraham on Friday night issued a statement that party’s stand will be declared by the party chairman. It is said that this statement had overtones of Mani’s disillusion over George going overboard on party matters.
However, Geroge is adamant on siding with the local people if there is no clarity in correction notification. George had been Mani’s confidante for long. Their separation, if it happens, would be the first such thing in Kerala Congress history.
