Witness found dead

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A man who was a crucial eyewitness in a daylight murder case under the Kattakada police station limits has allegedly committed suicide. According to the Kattakada police, Giridharan, 59, was an eyewitness in the murder of Left activist Ashokan in May 2013. Loan sharks, against whom Ashokan had launched a campaign, were suspected to be behind the murder and Giridharan had reportedly given his statement against a usurer and his men. He had allegedly consumed poison in his house and died in a hospital late in the night. The police said a case had been registered and they were probing all angles.
